Abstract

Sit together in a room hacking on debian, packaging software not yet available in debian repositories.

Outline

We will be trying to complete packaging of dependencies required for updating npm (node.js package manager).

Requirements

You should know how to create a debian package. Go through https://wiki.debian.org/Javascript/Nodejs/Npm2Deb/Tutorial or attend debian packaging workshop. You should have a debian unstable/sid system https://www.loomio.org/d/LTpSdMuX/debian-packaging-pre-requisites

Speaker bio

I’m a Debian Developer maintaining over 360 packages in debian (mainly nodejs and ruby libraries required for gitlab and diaspora). I mentor students to start contributing to Free Software. I’m an advocate of civil liberties, and focus on regaining civil liberties like privacy in digital era (Founding member of Indian Pirates http://pirates.org.in).

    is it possible to include a session on social aspects of OSS ? The platformcoop movement and beyond
    ( like arcade.city).
